The challenge

The redesign needed to serve commissioners, job seekers, and friends and family while communicating a sensitive healthcare service with clarity. Research included analytics, competitor review, interviews, personas, user flows, wireframes, and user testing.

Mapping the journeys.

User flows, sketches and wireframes

I developed user flows, sketches and wireframes to work through the navigation and page hierarchy before refining the visual design. These studies connect the research to the structure of the website.

Service information, careers and referrals

I designed layouts for hospital information, everyday life, careers and referrals. The collection shows the main content pages alongside the forms that support an enquiry or application.

Health Heroes: illustration for patient education.

Illustration / patient education

I created the illustrated patient-education comic with an RMLD nurse, using characters and visual storytelling to communicate health topics. A second volume focused on mental wellbeing and responded to feedback from a patient forum.

From comic to animation

I also recreated the comic in animation to explore how the story could be shared with patient groups. The film extends the illustration work into another format.

More patient-education work.

Hospital communication

The comic series and animated adaptation each explore a different way to present patient information.

Hospital communication

I created staff engagement and employee survey animations, adapting hospital communication into short visual sequences. These projects brought my motion skills into internal communication.

Process

How the work was shaped
01

Listening

Identified emotional cues, trust barriers, and information needs within a sensitive service environment.

02

Structure

Reframed the website into a clearer information architecture with a more supportive tone and flow.

03

Page design

I developed the website layouts and form designs around the research, giving service information, careers and referrals their own clear routes.
